Dirt Man!!

Our family was lucky enough to go on a wonderful vacation this year. We went to Bend, OR for a week before going to Portland to pick up daddy (since he had to work).
My parents' own a sort of time share in Bend and so we go each year. Most of the yard is made up of dirt & rocks. What makes that combination even better you ask... a 21 month old who discovered he loves to play in it & dig!
Almost every night after dinner this is what we would see Nathan doing...


If you notice most of his shirt is still white...but not his face or legs!!!!

He figured out how to "bury" his legs in the dirt...I think he thought we were already at the coast!!!

This kid sure does love dirt!!!!

Mom can we go golfing?

Ryan has been asking if he can go golfing. He wants to go "real" golfing, but Matt doesn't go enough that Ryan could go with him. So one day in June he went with GranDee, Aunt Leslie, his cousin Ashley & Nathan miniature golfing. When he was done golfing, he told us that it was "awesome", and he wants to go again!

GranDee said that even little Nathan had fun. He carried around a very small club, but instead of using it to hit the ball he just carried it around. So how did he get the ball around the course you ask? Easy....he threw it!

Pictures for Grandma & Grandpa???

Matt's parents decided they wanted some updated pictures of the grand kids, which includes 6 under the age of 8. Aunt Weez decided that she wanted to take the pictures so that we could have the kids in a more natural setting. I don't think any of us realized what a task that would be to get all six kids looking at the camera & smiling at the same time. We got a good shot of 5 of the 6...notice my little one is missing!

This is all we could get with Nathan in the picture...he wasn't a happy camper that day! Oh well.

And of course a picture of our Ryan monkey hanging off the bench!

I think Aunt Weez was able to get a few good pictures & then she also took individual pictures of the kids while they were playing at the park! What a fun outing.

Nathan Too!!

Several entries ago, I mentioned that we had splurged & bought a Wii. Of course Ryan loves to play & now so does Nathan. Whenever we get the remotes out, he wants one so that he can "play" also. He loves just waving the remote around or "driving" using the wheel that we got with Mario Kart. Nathan also likes helping Dad play. Matt has actually gotten pretty good trying to play various games while holding Nathan on his lap! He must be Ryan's brother...he loves those buttons!

Cooking Men

One morning I was pleasantly surprised that Daddy & the boys were making me breakfast. Ryan & Nathan love to help us cook whenever they can.

I think this was Nathan's first time helping cook & he is a natural...look at the flour on his pj's!

Goblin Valley

On our way home from Moab, we stopped at Goblin Valley (yes, I know it is a bit out of the way), which I was excited for because I have never been there. It was very overcast & it rained really hard about 45 minutes after we got there...but we had a blast for the short time we were able to climb on the rocks.

Ryan wasn't so sure about climbing on them & getting too far off the ground, but Nathan our "no fear" child was climbing on just about everything he could.

I can't wait to take the kids there again!

Riding a Bike

While we were camping, Nathan decided he wanted to ride on Ryan's bike. GranDee decided to help him out a bit, since his legs don't quite reach the pedals! He loved getting pushed around the campground on the bike. Hopefully he will be tall enough soon, & we can get him a bike too.

Mommy's Little Hikers

For Mother's Day my whole family went to Moab for a fun weekend of camping. After a great breakfast Sunday morning, made by the men, everyone went for a hike to Delicate Arch. Just like everyday we were there, Nathan fell asleep as we drove to the arch we wanted to hike. So him & I hung out in the car, while everyone else started the long hike up to Delicate Arch. After Nathan woke up from his nap him & I started up as well. At first he started of in the backpack we brought for him, but not long after we started did he want to walk too.

Ryan made it all the way to the top on his own two feet, (although once he got up there, he was scared to be up so high) and Nathan hiked almost to the top of the big slick rock slab that is on the hike, until we met everyone else coming down! Ryan & Nathan walked almost all the way down on their feet. Ryan was carried the last 300 yards or so...but what a trooper. Nathan was quite the trooper too! I guess we'll be going on more hikes in the future!

Slacker in the house!

I know it has been forever since I updated our blog. Life has just gotten away from me this summer. Hopefully, things have calmed down a bit & I can get back on track with blogging! Look for some good stuff yet to come!!! Especially our trip to Oregon!

Heritage Park Outing!

The first part of June we went to This is the Place Heritage Park. There were a ton of fun activities for adults & kids. Even Brigham Young was walking around! The kids had a blast, petting baby goats,

riding a horse,

getting their faces painted ,

of course riding a train , ...and we all had fun throwing tomahawks at a target! I must admit, even I had fun & I wasn't half bad either!!!
