Icy Waters

During our trip to central Oregon, we took the boys to a fun little park, called Tumalo. It is a little park next to a river. It is only about 10 minutes from where we stay in Bend. The only problem, is the water is ALWAYS cold!!!!! Although it is cold, we always enjoy playing in the water.

My nephew Dylan was with us & Ryan was very excited to go "floating down the river" with Dylan. I figured Ryan would be fine, until it was time to get on his tube before he freaked out. Much to my surprise & joy he never got scared! Ryan kept wanting to float with Dylan...they sure had fun together.

Nathan on the other hand, I decided, was a bit to little to go floating, so we hung out in the shallow part and just played. It was the first time that we tried using a life jacket for him. How did it go you ask?!!...not well. He was playing and having fun & then lost his footing or something & the next thing I know he is face down in the water. The life jacket is supposed to flip him over...but I think the water was just a bit too shallow for that...but he was fine. Later I was slowly pulling him around on a raft & he rolled off and fell right into the water! It was not a good day for him & water.

After we picked daddy up from the airport & returned to Bend, we wanted to take him there...but the weather was never warm enough to justify going in such frigid waters again. I guess there is always next year!
